“Romeo”, a Hanoverian Gelding by Rohmancero H has been with me since the age of 4. Originally purchased as a resale horse he was sold to Deborah Voigt from Boulder, Colorado, in 2007. He competed successfully at 6 year old Championships placing 3rd , developing Prix Saint George, and placed 3rd in the Developing Horse Grand Prix Championships 2012. Rohmero was the first horse I brought up from the beginnings to Grand Prix. The pictures show Romeo as a 6 year old and a 10 year old. Romeo is now an amazing schoolmaster and companion to Debi Voigt.
FROM THE OWNER:
In 2007 I started by looking for an older school master but Petra Warlimont told me about Rohmero (Romeo), a youngster that looked promising. When I first bought Rohmero through Petra, I thought I was getting a very nice amateur horse capable of competing through Prix St. Georges. He was not quite 5 when we first decided to show him and his scores were high enough to be surprising. We learned about the Young Horse Program that year and decided to attempt to qualify him for his 6 year old year. When he qualified we were beyond thrilled and made the trek to Kentucky Horse Park in 2008 along with 2 other horses that Petra qualified. We had no expectations other than just attending this prestigious event but Rohmero amazed us placing 3rd overall against Cabana Boy and Weltino’s Magic. He was schooling Prix St. Georges as a 6 year old!
The following year Rohmero did not compete as the Developing Horse rider criteria had changed so that Petra could not compete and I wanted to focus on riding him myself. Rohmero returned to competition the next year but still could not participate in the Developing Horse program. Petra became a US citizen the following year and Rohmero qualified for the 2011 Developing Horse Prix St. Georges division earning some impressive scores. He did not do well at the competition and we later found some health issues that contributed to that poor performance. After dealing with the health issues, Petra qualified Rohmero for the Developing Horse Grand Prix the following year. He showed strong enough to finish 3rd overall against Lisa Wilcox on Pikko del Cerro HU and Endel Ots on Agastrofos. He ended the year as the 2012 USDF Horse of the Year at I-2! As agreed, I took over all riding of Rohmero after that year. While never an easy horse, Petra took him to levels that no one suspected he could attain and doing it while I was also riding him. Something all other professionals claimed was impossible! The end result of a long training partnership is that I have a horse that has been trained through Grand Prix. Thanks to Petra I now get to ride the schoolmaster (albeit an opinionated one) that I wanted to buy in the first place!
